navit
I am a bit confused about over calling. For example if opener bids 2D and my partner overcalls 2 S . how many points and spades does this show. If my partner overbids on the second or third level after a 2 opening bid, how many cards does this show? and how many points. How do I respond? Thanks Help!! whereagles
You mean..? Opener Pard RHO you.. (2♦) ... 2♠ If so, 2♠ (or 3♣) usually shows opening values and at least a 5-card suit. At the 3 level, 6 cards is more common.

Or 5 cards and extra values. After 2S by LHO, what are you going to do with Kx-AQx-xx-AK10xx? Everyone I know will bid 3C. Peter
ohioply
There's one rule to follow here. Never Pre-empt a preempt. If RHO opens a weak 2h and you have a weak 2 in spades its better to pass and hope partner can come in than to bid 2s. Partner will think you have much more than a preempt if you do. Switch the diamonds and spades, and 3♣ is the only sane option I see without discussion.
