the hog
I am going to try 4S. My first inclination was to bid 4C to show a 2 suiter, however I am going to get forced at trick one and the S suit is more robust to be ables to stand the force. Also I suspect I have as many losers in H as in S. Yes I know I could go for a numner here, but there is a possibly of a double game swing as well as the possibility that my rho is a jokester. By the way, a x is crazy.
brianshark
I'll pass and lead a big ♠.
temp3600
I would pass.I think 4♠ will be doubled -2 a lot of the time, -1 some of the time, and very rarely make.3NT will often be cold, but not always. Sometimes partner has slow stoppers in their minors, or they have very balanced hands and don't have time to setup 9 tricks before we have 5, or we can immediately take 3 tricks in one of the majors. pbleighton
Pass. Pd is broke, we can probably set 3NT, but why tell declarer how to play the hand. Peter

Guest Jlall
Pass, we might set it on a good day and bidding at this vul is just too risky. There is a chance we have a game but I think going for a number is more likely.
Finch
I'm surprised at the people who think this is easy, and partner has "nothing".Let me give you a bidding problem: xxxxxxAKQxxxx you are at favourable.1C from partner, Pass, ? Isn't 3NT tempting? I don't think I can answer without knowing who my opponents are.
pclayton
PASS. IF RHO is kidding around, we'll all have a good laugh as we collect our plus 250 on defense cold for 4 spades. I think if you bid 4S you are playing RHO to be a joker. If RHO has the expected 3343 and a 14 count, pard has a yarb. 4S in a good day will go for 500 and on a really bad day its sticks and wheels As a matter of fact, the fewer major suit cards pard has, the more likely we are beating 3N, since clubs are less likely to run. jtfanclub
[hv=d=w&v=n&s=sakt974hak76dt82c]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] So...I expect to go down 2 in 4♠ if they're for real, and make it if they're fake. If my opponents are real: 4♠X-2=500, vs. 3NT=400If my opponents are joking*: 4♠=620, vs. 3NT-4=200 The problem is, if they are faking it, I think it's likely they'll bid 5♣ Then it's 5♣X-2 (or so)=300 vs. 3NT-4=200. I think I'm fixed. I pass, due to the vulnerability. At any other vulnerability, when down 2 vs. a game would be a good thing, I'd bid 4♠. *RHO has, for example♠ --♥ xx♦ K9xx♣ AJTxxxx
cherdano
Dealer: West Vul: NS Scoring: IMP ♠ AKT974 ♥ AK76 ♦ T82 ♣ [space] So...I expect to go down 2 in 4♠ if they're for real, and make it if they're fake. If they are for real, then I think going down 2 in 4♠ is optimistic. I agree with Frances that we might be +250 instead of +650 by passing, but it seems just too dangerous to bid 4♠. I would rather double than bid 4♠, the worst that can happen is -550 (I don't think they can XX), lose 4, while bidding 4♠ can go for 1100. I bid 2♣, wtp? :( Seriously, 3N is pretty tempting, but it totally wrong sides the contract, in spite of the tactical advantages.

I bid 4s going down 1. The bid 3nt after 1c made me suspicious and I bid 4s so I thought maybe they have some minors fit but how they know about stopers in majors. I look to the movie after that and I think I understand his 3nt even looks more like poker. This is a board when is easy to blame opponents for unortodox metods however his hand looks good for a bluff. I took a look at my hands to see how this was bid at the other 14 tables and those was the 15 bids and scores for this board. 4♥xE-3 8003NxxS= 8003NS= 4003NN= 4004♠xE-1 2004♠xE-1 2003♠xE-1 2003♣S= 1104♣S-1 -504♣S-1 -505♣S-2 -1004♣xS-1 -1005♣xS-2 -3005♣xS-2 -3006♣xN-3 -

BebopKid
I'd pass. Your partner could have a yarborough. You are probably going to be doubled if you bid and you are vul. Don't double, your partner may not catch any. Take what you can get.
