of course i was south and opened 2d (multi). west overcalled 3d natural

partner passed and after a long huddle east bid 3nt.

if i lead a heart of course its down, but im not psychic. i led a spade and 630.

would u bid 3nt???

is there a case for my leading a heart

1. I had led a spade

2. I had bid 3 NT (Hamanns rule)

3. There are three possible reasons to lead a Heart:

-Pd has a haert Honour and the spade queen and can lead through declarer.

-Pd has long good hearts

-They have just 8 tricks and a spade lead gifts them the 9.

In my opinion a too small target, so I had surely lead a spade.

But all these thoughts are fruitless. Pd should have bid 4 Heart pass or correct. He has a ten card fit and is green. This will end doubled -1 for a fine score.

What type of Multi is this where partner does not make a bid over 3 with 4-4 in the majors? How did that part of the discussion go?

:P partner said she thought we would beat 3nt . i like the 4h bid myself

Did you partner notice that even if she had bid just 3, it is unlikely that the opponents will find 3NT, or even if they do, on a delayed pass-or-correct auction, now the lead stands out more? This focus on your lead is the wrong lesson to take from this hand.
