pclayton
Playing in a tough match against South America's finest you look at adverse: [hv=d=w&v=n&s=sat98xhkdt986xcak]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] 3♦ on left, pass, pass to you. Winstonm
I would guess at this vul diamonds are 6115 around, and that's a lot of losers to dispose of and overruffs are a problem - unless we can reverse dummy. But partner probably will have heart length anyway. I think if I have a game I have been duly screwed - pass.
Echognome
I pass. Partner with short diamonds couldn't act. (Mind you he had to act over 3♦ not 1♦). Let's say that a likely shape for partner is a 3=5=1=4, or a 2=5=2=4. In order for us to make game, he needs to have an opening or near opening. With such a hand he might have ventured a 3♥ call. If he has only 4♥ and long clubs, such as a 3=4=1=5 he might double. The only hand I can think of where partner would be stuck would be a 2=4=2=5 (or 2=4=1=6), in which case we will need a lot of strength with the combined misfit. Now, let's think of the worst case scenario. Partner has a 3=4=2=4 with about a weak NT strength. I think if partner has xx in diamonds, he *might* still double. But with the likely ruffs, game might still not make.
Guest Jlall
You couldn't pay me to bid with this. Partner had shortness and passed. RHO will be overruffing dummy. Things will split poorly. I would be shocked if passing was not a clear long term winner. If partner has FIVE spades it will be right to bid but what can you do. No reason we shouldn't go for a digit either.
ArcLight
I'd pass, but what does pard need for 3NT to make?♠ K Q x and take the finesse or K Q x x♥ A x x x ♣ x x x [ x x]♦ x or x x You have the ♦ stopper, they take 4 ♦ and you take 9 It could easily turn out badly, but its not like asking pard to have something unrealistic. >You couldn't pay me to bid with this. Do you take Paypal? Is $50 enough :P
dake50
Double with a partner who will take 300 with his 1-2 tricks, and no severe distribution. Pass if partner is a moron.

keylime
I calmly pass. This hand reeks of 3 week old pizza in the fridge.
whereagles
I was going to bid 3♠ but then I thought it's quite complicated for us to have a game when trumps rate to break quite bad. Pass.
awm
Perhaps a slow double would bar partner? Gee.... I pass.
Halo
Pass. If it's our hand why hasn't partner doubled.
bid_em_up
Pass, wtp?
pclayton
Everyone Ive given the hand to passes, except for Chris, who bids 3♠ - but thought pass and 3♠ were basically a coin flip. I passed too. Here's the entire hand: [hv=d=w&v=n&n=sjxxhqjxxxxdcxxxx&w=sxxhxxxdakqjxxcxx&e=skqxhaxxdxxcqjtxx&s=sat98xhkdt98xxcak]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] We got 150 out of 3♦. The other table balanced with 2♠ after a weak 2 and got to game. A ♦ was led, and teammate didn't duck the ♥K, so it rolled .
