What would Brian Boitano do?

inquiry

There is a song in South Park movie that ask what would Brian Boitano do. If you want, you can find it here.. Short south park video. Since Brian defeated the evil robot kings in 3010, built the pyramids, and beat up Kubela Kong... who else to turn too on a problem hand? To answer this, just ask yourself.. what would Brian Boitano dooooooo?

Not a good contract but I must make something of the clubs, so at trick 2 and 3 I cash the AK of clubs . Assuming no ruff, cross in diamonds and ruff a club with the heart 10. If still alive, cash the top diamonds, pitching a spade, cash the spade ace and ruff a spade, then another club ruffed with the heart ace. Cross to dummy with my little heart and draw trumps.

3-3 clubs is one way to make this, another way is taking 3 diamonds, 2 clubs, 1 spade, and 7 trump tricks (meaning a complete crossruff after the lead). I think we can combine it a little bit. AK of clubs, diamond to the king and ruff a club. If those are 3-3 we can pull trumps and claim. If they're 4-2 and I haven't gotten overruffed I will now cash 2 diamonds pitching a spade, ace of spades spade ruff etc.

This runs a small risk that a hand with 2 clubs and 3 diamonds pitches their diamond but it picks up on 3-3 clubs with the HJ offside so seems better than just starting a cross ruff.

One would hope Brian would bid better since the blast to a grand on a max 31 hcp and without checking to make sure opener has 4 aces is so bad, that the session would end for me after this hand even if brilliant declarer play can bring this home.

Well, Brian would be south, so he didn't jump to the grand, north did. And Brian would NEVER treat his mother who made this bid this way.. at least is was his mother in this story....

Justin has the most reasonable line of play. But lets follow on what would happen in his line and see if it would alter his continuation.

On the club AK East drops the QJ in that order. Does this play alter you line? Or do you continue diamond to king and club ruff?
