Blofeld
Yes; I'll try 2NT. I passed 1NT so this is scrambling, not lebensohl. I should mention that I might prefer double (pulling 2♠ to 2NT if p bids that) as partner might pass 2♥x for what may be a nice result. What I'm worried about if I double is the opponents competing to 3♥ and partner bidding 3♠ over the top of that. Maybe I'm being paranoid for no good reason. whereagles
Pass. There's a reasonable chance opps missed their 44 spade fit to play in the 52 heart fit.
kgr
Pass at IMP's. (I would bid 2NT at MP') Maybe it is even better to pass (or DBL) at MP's.Distributions could well be something like:RHO: 4=1=4=4LHO: 3=6=3=1CHO: 4=4=2=3We: 2=2=4=5If opps open 1D with 4=4 minors then something like:RHO: 4=1=3=5LHO: 3=6=3=1CHO: 4=4=3=2We: 2=2=4=5If opps play WJS 4-7 and open 1D with 4=4 minors then something like:RHO: 3=1=4=5LHO: 4=6=2=1CHO: 4=4=3=2We: 2=2=4=5If opps play WJS 4-7 and open 1D with 4=5 minors then something like:RHO: 4=1=3=5LHO: 4=6=2=1CHO: 3=4=4=2We: 2=2=4=5 => It's not sure that we have a fit and a 9-card fit is even less sure.I pass at IMP's.At MP's it seems best to pass or to DBL (and bid 3C if partner would bid 2S). dake50
2NT. Hope partner likes C or has D helped by JTxx.
cherdano
I am not sure what is right but if you balance, I think double is better. If partner has 4 good hearts, defending 2H is a lot better (and safer) than playing 3m I would think. I don't think partner can bid 3S over 3H.(P.S.: I am still hoping for a few more replies...) Guest Jlall
I would pass...too much danger and not enough chance of a double partscore swing to justify the risk imo.

You may be correct but this looks pretty deep to me. 2nt now minors I hope. Read somewhere the Italians won a zillion imps by really fighting for partscores at imps over the years. Pass seems pretty close here at this vul though.
neilkaz
The opps probably have 16 cards in the majors and you probably have 16 in the minors so I think this is a very close decision between pass and 2NT for minors. 3m may be cold, or may be X'd and set only 1 (no disaster if 2♥ makes as is likely then) or may make doubled for a huge score. Other times opener will carry on to 3♥ and maybe -1. Very close.. here for me and I don't fault a pass or a bid .. neilkaz ..

Codo
If I look at a natural 1 NT bid, how would I see double fro pd now?Cardshowing? Penalty? Take out?I don´t know, I hope all the doublers know, what their partners think. If you are on the same wavelength with your pd, what a double will show now, this would be my preference. But it will be too risky for me, so 2 NT is fine.

hotShot
I pass. I expect partner to hold 4♠, 3+♥ and 2+ in each minor. I'm not sure we have a fit anywhere and opps may not have one either. But if partner has some 15+ HCP opps don't have the majority of points.
