Vilgan
My apologies if this is the wrong forum. Is there a good (accessible) way to find hands to practice certain tactics... specifically (in my case) squeezes? I can read hands out of a book and figure out the best line usually, but it feels like a more complete learning experience to actually play out a hand on a computer in some way. Maybe even a listing of hands from bridge baron 16 that apply? Just looking to practice recognizing and implementing a squeeze on a bunch of hands so it becomes familiar more quickly. Only software I have atm is BB 16 and BBO, but might be able to buy more if it is worth the money. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is a B/I thing, just seemed sort of borderline as to which forum. Thanks! Eric
gwnn
Bridge Master 2000's level 4 is mostly about simple squeezes, endplays, and some more complex squeezes. Level 5 also features many squeeze plays. If you don't feel like buying it, you can check out 6 free deals on BBO at Explore Bridge->Bridge Master. If you don't feel like learning in the BBO enviroment, check out Pavlicek's site. It has loads of squeezes (one even in hearts!, one of my favorite plays in card games), check out the advanced sections.
sathyab
I'd highly recommend Larry Cohen's RealDeal CD's. It's not specifically about squeezes, but practically every other hand's about advanced tehniques like squeezes, end-plays or placing opponents's cards in a high-level MP game. If you're looking to improve your dummy play and defense technique, I don't think you can do better than these CD's. The interactive nature of the problem presentation is so much better suited for training than the conventional bridge column. More than anything else it increases your hunger for better play
temp3600
This is not exactly what you asked, but I would recommend going thoroughly through the hands you just played in a session with a double-dummy solver.Very often interesting technical points - be it squeezes, endplays, timing issues (and also alternate contracts, possible variations in the bidding) - will pop up in what seemed like obvious and dull hands. dake50
Internet search for bridge squeezes complete. A play the hand program of Clyde Love's book.
ArcLight
I'm not sure what Larry Cohens RealDeal CDs are. He has a 3 CD set Life Master Pairs which are ok. They are not as good as the Mike Lawrence CDs, though they are more advanced. Mike Lawrences Private Lessons have some squeezes, but just simple ones. If you have BB 16 you can (laboriously) enter hands from books on Squeezes, and play them later. Not much fun that way. As someone else pointed out the level 4 Bridge Master hands have lots of squeezes.
