Finch
The most instructive part is not bidding this sort of contract. Ruff the diamond. Ace of hearts, heart ruff, spade to the queen, ace of spades, run hearts. When LHO ruffs in over-ruff, and get back to hand on a minor-suit ruff. Just needs exactly Kx of spades onside and hearts 3-2.
Walddk
Appalling contract, but .... Ruff the diamond, ♥A and a heart ruff, spade to the queen and ♠A. Then reel off all your hearts and overruff when/if LHO ruffs. Back to your hand via a minor ruff and claim. All you need is Kx spades onside and hearts 3-2. I guess this could have been one of my poor slams. I make it roughly 9% B) Roland
Finch
I could hijack the thread make this hand three harder problems. i) What's the right line in 4S at IMPs?ii) What's the right line in 4S at Matchpoints?iii) What's a good and convincing auction to finish in 4H rather than 4S, which I think is a better spot? Trumpace
The most instructive part is not bidding this sort of contract. Even experts (Roland :P ) can land into bad slams... :) lol. As an aside, if partner had the ♠K instead of ♣K would 6♠ be a decent contract? How would one reach it? and in case it is a decent contract, how would one stay out of the slam when partner has the ♣K instead of ♠K? Be my guest :) About iii) do you want to consider intervention by opponents too?
