the hog
I don't think it is particularly nice and against 98% of players would just shut up and play the next hand, but there are one or two players where a needle is appropriate as their manner at the table is really objectionable. However, rather than say "I like 1100s" I would prefer to ask partner "Could we have done better?"Incidentally, banning anyone for this is over the top. A comment from the TD should be enough. Robert
Hi everyone I think that the advice of a football coach might be of some use here. He told his players 'not' to celebrate when they scored a touchdown. You should act like you expected to score. Accept the plus 1,100 without any special notice. I would ignore the comment 'if' I gave away a -1,100. If it was joking around, I am not amused. If it was to get 'under my skin', I would not give you any satisfaction. The Italian Blue Team was famous for its team spirit. One player ran from a making 7S contract to a doubled 7NT 'which did not make.' His partner did not say one word, they went on to win the championship. Regards, Robert
blackshoe
btw acceptable to me doesn't mean I find it nice. Just acceptable. I reserve the right to respond in kind. Hm. My mother taught me "two wrongs don't make a right". Was she wrong? Can you reserve a right you don't have? :)
pigpenz
in todays world gloating seems to happen all the time, why I dont know...is it acceptable not really. Even this summer there was a minor incident of it happening with Brad Moss and Zia....was it gloating...probably not...but there was a history there.
