i have dreadful login problems. It can 30 mins to eventually get a table. It used to be 10 seconds. I have a new PC, 2mb broadband line, norton, (but I have same probs on my laptop and no Norton on it). When I do get connected, I am slow and get kicked out. I am so frustrated as I really enjoy playing and I just cannot figure out what is wrong. I run Internet Explorer 7, could this be causing a conflict. What about firewalls?

Please help

Zarah ;)

Looks right about firewall. Try open and check for enable log-file. Then you can see if that is the problem. If it is you have an option to add BBO as an exception.

You can also simply try disable firewall and see if that helps. Remember to enable firewall after the test.

The problem must be on your connection as you have same problem on other computer and other people have no problem at all. Maybe try to talk with your dealer or phone your Internet Service Provider.

try the tools at www.dslreports.com (free)

let us know if you use satellite/microwave communications

Some isps throttle (reduce capacity of) our port number 9999 (thinking we are file sharing)

If the old pc is still on the network, see if that is still sluggish.

If you have virus protection, check to see that full access to the BBO program is allowed. Open the Virus software (right click on the icon at the bottom of your screen and open)... click on firewall--then "configure"--then "programs" and browse for the program icon on your computer--usually in the program files. Add it. See if that works.

This is the response I have recieved from my ISP after subitting a trace route to them.

Dear Mrs Williams,

Looking at the tracert you have provided it appears the packet loss and therefore the poor connection is happening at a server external to PlusNet. This is shown by the 100% packet loss on the following section of the tracert.

100/ 100 =100% THE-PLANET.car4.Dallas1.Level3.net

Can you help me now.

Thanks

Dear Mrs Williams,

As its outside of our network control that the loss is happening then you may have to find from Bridgebase if they have any other online servers that you can connect too to see if this is routed differently which may help cut out that problem.

Regards,

This is the latest reply from my server. I am unable to logon to bridgebase, and I find it very frustrating.
