xx1943
Hi all West and EAST cards showed: [hv=d=n&v=a&w=st952ha62dj542cq3&e=saq76hq843dtcakj8]266|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - Pass 1♣ Pass 1♠ Pass 4♠ Pass Pass Pass What is your plan to take 10 tricks or to lose only 3 tricks? inquiry
Is there a reason we don't see what was lead to trick one? I mean, My plan is to wn the Spade King with ACE and have south drop the spade JAck...if you will let me. :)
bid_em_up
Well, without knowing what the opening lead is, it would appear that a good general plan would be a dummy reversal of sorts by ruffing 3 diamonds in hand, cashing the spade A, pitch 2 hearts on the clubs, and just lose 2 high spades and a diamond. West with ♠10952 is declarer. Dummy has the singleton ♦.
pork rind
;) WIN CLUB ACE, LEAD DIAMOND 10.(PROB THIS IS DUCKED TO LHO, BUT DOESNT MATTER)IS RHO OPP WINS AND LEADS A HEART LET IT RUN. WIN RETURN IN HAND AND RUFF A DIAMOND. LOW CLUB TO HAND AND LEAD SPADE PLANNING TO FINESSE THE QUEEN(UNLESS SPADES ARE KJ DOUBLETON IN LHO YOU WILL LOSE A SPADE NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO SO IT DOESNT MATTER WHETHER THE FINESSE WINS OR LOSES) WIN RETURN AND CASH THE A OF SPADES. LEAD HIGH CLUBS EITHER PITCHING HEART OR DIAMONDS DEPENDING ON WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE HEART AT TRICK 3(MAYBE).LOSE 1S, 1H, AND 1D (OR 2D AND NO HEART). temp3600
I think I have to decide immediately what club holding to play West for.According to the opponent's carding conventions, can the C9 be something else than singleton or doubleton? If I believe West is short in clubs, I take the first trick with the CQ in hand and run the ST, relying on the HK onside and the trumps 3-2 with only one loser.Otherwise, I play a round of diamonds to set-up a flexible cross-ruff position. lowerline
Is there a reason we don't see what was lead to trick one? I mean, My plan is to wn the Spade King with ACE and have south drop the spade JAck...if you will let me. B) Sorry Ben I forgot to tell, that the lead is ♣9. Al♣Q. ♠ to Q. Suppose it loses:A. They switch to ♥ (before or after taking their ♦ trick)Let it run to your Q. If this loses to the K, play ♥ to A when you have regained the lead. Now play the ♠T and make the decision.B. They continue ♣ or ♦Play the ♠A and continue ♣, discarding ♥. If it wins, play the ♠A and continue ♣, discarding ♥ So basically the plan is to loose one ♦ and two ♠ or to loose one ♦, one ♥ and one ♠... xx1943
This is the complete deal [hv=d=n&v=a&n=sj843hkj7dq983ct9&w=st952ha62dj542cq3&e=saq76hq843dtcakj8&s=skht95dak76c76542]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - Pass 1♣ Pass 1♠ Pass 4♠ Pass Pass Pass After going -1 I had the bad feeling, that my play was suboptimal.I tried the ♠-finesse to the 2. trick. I hoped West having Kx or Kxx in ♠s.this chance is about 34%. I'm wondering if there is a line with greater percentage for success. My stomach says there must be one. Deep finesse tells: EW can make 3♠. lol Cheers Al
