2NT balanced game try

after the 3 diamond bid, looking at my round suit losers ( I took it as only 1 as my pard (a nice lady by the name of GIB) looked 54 dist in Sp and Diam so I cue bid, was this sensible

also was my decision to pass 4 spades correct

I was South

I have done this sort of thing previously i.e. a balanced game try, when I have the values and do not need to try for it, so my question is, what am I gaining from trying to get a bit of info out of partner, or am I giving away more than I can gain (I hope that makes sense)

Hi Wayne,

you did sit South? Or did you sit North

and poor South needed to figure out, if you

did have a real opener? :) (*)

Regarding your question, in case of doubt,

I prefer the 2NT game try bid to any other game

try bid, because of the reason you mentioned, it

tells less about the closed hand.

With kind regards

Marlowe

(*) The South hand is worth a direct game bid,

9 card trump fit (unless your partnership raises

regular on 3 card support), 13HCP opposite a opener.
