Some Suggestions

Hi.

Some suggestions for the already excellent software piece:

 

1. All informative messages like 'command completed' , 'score adjusted' , 'registration succeeded' shouldn't be displayed as dialog boxes, because there can be too many dialogs. Better put them all as messages in the chat window so the player isn't forced to click on 'OK'

 

2. Chat should support UTF-8

 

3. For Tournament Directors, there should be an external window that will allow the TD to monitor the tournament (state,groups,subs,adjust score) without needing to press a key. For example, I 'd like to constantly see the status, but I have to go to 'Show tournament status' (3 button clicks). Put in the dialog only the things that are done once (like hand upload or rule upload) , and let the common ones outside in a menu.

 

4. For Tournament Directors, all requests should be displayed in a queue. For example, I might be called in 2 tables at the same time. I will go to the first, and then forget who called me last. Put all the calls in the same window I mentioned in #2, in a priority list and avoid the popup windows.

 

5.When playing somewhere, the client doesn't need to get updated of the other tables. Limit the traffic by not sending table/other tournament/etc data to a player that is playing in a table/tournament.

 

6.Allow a 'dumb' version of GIB (e.g. the one that only things 1 second before it plays) for free, and have the expert play for $s. This will allow someone to play with a bad bot for free, just for trying the game. Or at least, do that in teaching tables so pairs may practise their card play.

I like the idea's which aren't for TD's I can't give an opinion about the other since I'm not a TD B)
