Emulation Problem

I've been running BBO for several years now using virtual PC on a Mac. For the most part this has worked well. However, there seems to be a problem when BBO tries to access an external web page. Generally what happens is that my BBO interface will freeze for about 15-30 seconds and then a message comes up indicating that I "cannot open the webpage because I am not connected to the internet." Of course this is not true, since after clicking this message away BBO continues to run (and I can play and kibitz tables, etc).

Until recently, this was only a minor annoyance when I logged into BBO and the news tried to load. But the new versions include ads which load periodically. Since these ads seem to require accessing an external web page, and they update fairly frequently, the new version causes frequent freezes and occasionally crashes altogether.

I switched back to Classic mode and this problem (and the ads) went away.

In any case, my suggestion is to: (1) Please keep the classic mode around for a while, and (2) If possible, load all ads on startup rather than loading them each time they need to update.

If anyone has suggestions of how to fix this problem please let me know.

I've been using VPC to run BBO for years and have never seen this. However, it does often take a LONG time to display these windows. In particular, when I first login to BBO the news window opens, but takes at least a minute (and it seems like forever) to fill it in with the news, and I can't close the news window during this time.

I wanted to time it more precisely now, but wouldn't you know it there's no new news today. The interesting thing is that there's no such delay if I use Options->Show News. I thought maybe it was because the old news was cached, but I cleared my Internet temp files and use Show News again, and it still came right up. Weird.
