Echognome
[hv=d=s&v=b&n=sk8xhkxxdxxxcaqtx&s=saj9xxhqjxxdaxxcx]133|200|Scoring: IMP1♠ - (2♣) - 3NT - (Dbl)P - (P) - 4♠ - (P)P - (Dbl) - All Pass[/hv] Over the weekend, this hand sparked some interest as you will soon see why. You open 1♠ playing something close to 2/1 and the bidding proceeds as follows. LHO leads a diamond and you immediately win the A. At trick 2 you finesse the ♣Q successfully (phew!). At trick 3 you play the ♣A and RHO discards a diamond as you do the same. Time for some reconstruction. How are you going to play to limit the damage? As a side note, can you guess what happened at teammates table if I told you it wasn't good?
pclayton
Wow; can LHO really be 5=0=1=7 and RHO 0=6=6=1? I can't think of any real good reason why RHO wouldn't hit the ♣A. I lead a low heart off dummy. I assume that RHO hops ace, cashes a diamond and plays a 3rd diamond. I ruff with the 9. LHO probably overruffs, but has to get out a high club. I ruff in hand, play a spade to the 8, give up a spade, etc..
Foxx
Well, if the distribution is as suggested by pclayton and the early play, one could presume that your teammates, holding the E/W cards, got into the stratosphere on the ghastly misfit, and got blasted.....
