pclayton
Here's an interesting hand my pard played at BAM. Its tricky, and I'd like to hear what you all think the best approach is. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=sj2hakt72d8cajt94&s=skq63h63dkjt64ck3]133|200|Scoring: BAM[/hv] You play in 3N with the ♠7 lead. You play the J and it holds (RHO playing the 5 (udca)). Now what? mikeh
well, this is one of those hands where I, at least, feel uncomfortable coming up with a definitive plan. I expect my full line to depend upon how the opps defend: including tempo issues. You are certainly vulnerable, on many layouts, to an attack on your entries: it may be to the opps' benefit even to sacrifice a potential ♣ trick in that regard. Anyway, to start with, I lead a ♦ to the J. What I do next depends on what happens to this trick.
Free
I like running the ♣J at trick 2. If it holds, finesse ♦, otherwise look what happens...
