pclayton
Every so often, I want to go back and check my agreements with my partners, esecially when I have a disgreement with my partners on something 'basic'. Here's an example that came up on Friday: You hold: A6532 in a suit against a suit. Your pard leads the 4 and you win the Ace. Assuming that suit preference would not apply in this situation. You lead 3/5 against suits on opening lead. What in your opinion is the proper card to lead back: A. 6 (since I have an even number of cards left; akin to leading back the 6 from an original A62). B. 5 (I can't think of a good reason for the 5) C. 3 (Middle game reverts to 'original 4th best'; OR: I have 4 cards left, so I lead my 3rd best, as if I was on opening lead and I held 6532). D. 2 (original 5th best) Whatever you choose, please also comment on what you would lead back from A62 and A632. I'd also like to hear the opinions of other about leading back the 6 fro A6532 against NT as an 'attitude' return.
Echognome
I return the same card I would lead with the cards in my suit, so depends on the method I am playing. A. 6 (only if playing attitude leads with the same agreement in returning the suit). However, in a cashout situation, I might lead high to show I had no honour in the suit, telling partner that I have no interest in the suit. B. 5 (only if playing 2/4 leads) C. 3 (only if playing 3/5 leads) D. 2. (can't think of a reason)
Guest Jlall
The 3 for sure. Leading back the 2 won't work because what would you lead back from A432?
