whereagles
1. Dbl, and correct 3♥ to 4♦. Pass if pard bids 4♥. 2. Dbl. I don't think they're making this. Pass if it was imps.
ajm218
Whoops clicked MP instead of IMP both times - both at IMP scoring

Same as eagles; dbl then 4♦ 2. Pass. We aren't making 5♠, unless pard has a one in a million hand: KQxxx, void, xxx, Axxxx. I'm not doubling either, since I can count only one trick. Maybe pard's 4♠ pushed the to a level where they can't make. Can diving be right? Maybe. Something like KQxxx, x, xxx, Axxx looks pretty typical for a 4♠ call, and 5♠ looks cheap. However, I wouldn't blame pard for bidding 4♠ on KQxxx, xx, ATxxx, x, and we have a fair shot of beating 4♠.
mcphee
Not fond of dble of 3C. I choose a simple 3D, partner is still able to bid. Perhaps we will go down in 5S, but it will not cost a bundle. Who can take the chance on a dble game swing.
mike777
1) 3D2) Pass
HeartA
You overcall a simple 3D at balance position with 18 count? I think dbl is the only choice. For 2nd hand, I opened, didn't I? Though I have extra in supporting S, I will pass.
Codo
X and 5 Spade.X seems to be clear and 5 Spade is more an insurance against a double game swing. I would pass at mps but not at imps.
Guest Jlall
I would smack 3C. Partner could bid 3N, pass spades, or diamonds all are good. Over 3H I suck it up and bid 4D. Partner will know I have a flexible hand that includes diamonds... albeit i've overbid a little. 3D in passout could be much less and is less flexible (may miss spades or a penalty). On the second one I'm going to bid 5S. It could be a make, could be a dive, who knows. If partner has club SHORTNESS this will be a bad bid, but this could just be a hand that is a double gamer. Partner is still in the game but he's going to pass the hand out when its wrong a fair amount of the time. It's really just a guess but I'm guessing this is the percentage bid, and I don't mind too much if both 5H and 5S are both down one.
