barmar
The new VIEW button menu in the bridge club areas doesn't display properly under WINE on Mac OS X (and I'm guessing also under WINE on Linux). The items above the line are OK, but the ones below the line are shifted to the right, so you can only see the first letter or two; "Pictures of tables" is just "Pi", "Small table font" is just "S", and "More options" is just "M". BTW, what's your criteria for incrementing the minor version number? It seems like the changes between 4.8.9 and 4.9.0 are not as drastic as the changes that went into 4.8.7. Why does this one deserve a new minor version (as opposed to being 4.8.10), while the earlier, bigger change was only a 3rd-leve (the new look seems like it would have been worth a jump to 4.9.0)l? I noticed the same thing when you went from 4.7.x to 4.8.x -- it didn't seem to correspond to any major change, either.
Free
I guess because the versions now are only beta, so no real need to use up numbers
fred
The 2 of clubs problem is not related to Linux. Anyone who has "big cards" set to yes will see this problem. You wouldn't think there would be an association between these 2 things but... A 4.9.1 with a fix to this and other bugs will lbe made available most likely some time later today. As far as I am concerned, version numbers generally just increase by 1 every time - you should not expect anything extra special to happen when the 2nd element is increased. Whatever conventions of minor and major you are familiar with (which could well be some kind of standard for all I know), they do not apply here. A few times we have skipped ahead to 3.0.0 or 4.0.0 and maybe we will skip ahead to 5.0.0 when we do our next release by automatic download. But at this rate we may get to 5.0.0 before that happens. hotShot
The new look on the table list is good, except the Host,IMP,# of Kibs field.Since this field often starts with BBOID's it's hard to understand the field at all. It would be better to color code the host in the table view. And now that there is a lobby view visible when you are at a tourney page, it would be great, if the tourney host and partner would could be shown there too. barmar
What's the "2 of clubs problem"?
fred
What's the "2 of clubs problem"? It doesn't really matter now that it is fixed, but in the new "pictures of table" view, you would sometimes see a 2 of clubs instead of the name of a player. barmar
The bug in the VIEW menu is not fixed in 4.9.1. And I don't have big cards enabled. I also expected version numbers to increase by 1 every time, so expected 4.8.9, 4.8.10, 4.8.11, and so on. There's no "standard" that I know of (although Linux has an interesting convention -- its version numbers are x.y.z, where even y's are production releases, odd y's are test releases). It's just logical: what's the dot for if not to distinguish different levels of significance in changes; they're modeled after section numbers in books or outlines. If you didn't intend for the second dot to be meaningful, what's it there for? Why not 4.89, 4.90, 4.91, ...? Users who are familiar with other products will likely expect the quantity (and compatibility) of changes to correspond to which level of version has changed. But I know you often like to march to the beat of a different drummer, like not using the standard Windows GUI elements (did someone hold a gun to your head to get the tabbed Options window?), so that's the end of my tirade on such a trivial thing. This bug is still there in 4.9.3. To the best of my knowledge this does not happen under Windows so I am taking the position that this is WINE's fault for not properly emulating Windows. If it starts happening under Windows then of course I will fix it. I will even fix it just for WINE if I can figure out what is going on (send me a screenshot please - that might help). However, I do not want to spend a lot of time on something that I don't think is my problem. barmar
I've sent the screen capture to you in an email. It's kind of weird that the fancy menu entries, with the colored backgrounds and icons, show up fine, but the plain text menu entries are messed up. barmar
BTW, I wouldn't have bothered mentioning it again, since I didn't think WINE support was high on the priority list, but for the fact that you wrote earlier "A 4.9.1 with a fix to this and other bugs will lbe made available most likely some time later today." But maybe you were talking about the "2 of clubs" bug that was never actually reported in this thread.

Actually when I was referring to bugs I planned to fix, it was bugs in BBO (and not bugs in WINE) that I was talking about.
