hrothgar
Just starting to experiment with the new Beta. For the most part, I like what I see... Here's the first of what I expect will be many small suggestions: Right now, there is an online Vugraph from the Women's Elite Tournament. The Vugraph Banner is displaying two different things: 1. A standard label saying "Vugraph (Live Broadcasts with Commentary)"2. A scrolling banner that says "Live Broadcast in Progress" Personally, I find the scrolling banner extremely distracting. Its sitting right in the center of the screen, constantly moving, constantly drawing in my eyes. Its very difficult to focus on anything else. Associated with this, the banner overwrites the end of the word "Commentary". (Minor point I know) Personally, I prefer if there were some other way to display that a live vugraph was running. Perhaps you could color code the display? Black with Yellow lettering when nothing is running. Black with Green lettering when there is a live Vugraph going on? inquiry
Increase the number of columns of names shown, decreases the space for the items on the left.. there is still a scroll but it is not so obvious. This is such a change, maybe it should be version 5.0... :-)
gary
You can increase the number of columns of names displayed Under where the names are displayed there is an Options button Options->number of columns->1-8 Personally, I think any more than 4 is too much but to each their own... -gary
Echognome
I like the new version as well. I do wish one could set the number of columns for each page one looks at if desired. For example, in the lobby, I would like to have a lot of columns of players to look at, but when I click on tournaments, this crowds the tournaments too much. So I either have to have fewer columns in the lobby or too many when I look at the tournaments page.
Ant590
I'd love to have "Ctrl-1" for one column, "Ctrl-2" for two etc as I sometimes want to see people and sometime not :) (including on the table view)
DJNeill
Hi,When I navigate into the Team Matches list, and then back out, each of the categories of tournaments have the same number of tables and players, which is the total in the "all tournaments" row. Then, the only action that correctly refreshes the correct total of each group is going into one of the tournament lists and back out again. Thanks,Dan
DJNeill
Hi,Would it be possible to have the scrollbar at the foot of the lobby list scroll more at each click if you click in the scrolling area, rather than with the left-right arrows. Right now, there is no difference in scrolling increment whether you click on the arrows or in the scrolling area. Thanks,Dan

People who use Windows a lot come to expect that they will be able to scroll through an entire document or list one page at time by clicking in the way you suggest. If I implemented your suggestion then I expect that many people would not realize that scrolling through the list in this way results in some columns of names being skipped. If it is the fact that such clicks and the arrows have the same effect that is bothering you, a better solution would be to have the arrows work as they do in a traditional Windows scollbar - to move up/down one a few lines (as opposed to one page the way it is now). That was how I made the arrows work originally, but I did not like the effect - it was confusing and not especially useful. So probably I won't be making any changes here. You can also hold down the right or left arrow keys, move the "thumb" in the scollbar with your mouse, or use the "start list at" command in the new Options menu if you want to scroll the list more quickly. This suggestion (and the one to use Control-1, Control-2... to set the number of lobby columns) are both being considered, but even if we do these things it may not happen right away. For example, the next version I release (probably by the end of the week) will most likely have little if any new functionality and plenty of bug fixes. Gerben42
Hi, I don't like the current breakdown of tournaments. Instead of "Masterpoint Tournaments" I'd like it to show "Other pay tournaments" or similar. For example HomeBaseClub is a $1 tournament where you don't get MP but other service but it would be hard to find this tournament in this setup. hotShot
I like the new interface. But i think setting the number of columns for the lobby is not so usefull. I think i would prefer a button that would make the lobby wide or small. If i don't want to look 1-3 columns are enough, if i want to search in the lobby i would like it almost full screen 8 columns. Guest Jlall
When I do "find person" a message comes up telling me where they are and asks if I want to send them a message. It would be more convenient (for me) if that message asked if I wanted to join their table so I wouldnt have to use the scroll thing to find them then right click and join their table. Just a thought, maybe messaging is more useful to most people.

On the other hand, they might be in a tourney and no chat allowed either.

Probably "find person" will eventually work in the same way as a right-click on a player's name in that the user will be able to select from various options (including "join table") that pertain to that person. Elianna
Is it possible to have different settings for the main lobby and for the sub-lobbies for teamgames, MBC, etc? I like creating more column space for names in the main lobby, but would like more space to see full names at tables with just a glance. This isn't a high priority thing, as it's still possible to see names, it's just a little harsh looking. I also imagine that it might be annoying to code, and I love coming up with those types of suggestions. :)
matmat
i sat down at a table in the friendly bridge club, pulled up "Lobby" players above the chat window, right clicked on someone and there was no option to join that person's table. Once i got up from the table at was at and went back to the main screens, I could join the table no problem. what's going on?
matmat
also, I like the new "seeking game" feature, but i think names should remain green until the table at which one is sitting gets filled.

We have never allowed people who are sitting to jump to another table on the theory that this would make it easier for players to leave in the middle of a hand (which is obviously something we try to discourage). fred
also, I like the new "seeking game" feature, but i think names should remain green until the table at which one is sitting gets filled. Disagree - once a person is sitting he is no longer "seeking a game" - he has found a game even if the game is not complete yet. Other people who are looking at the list of players seeking a game will be better off if the list they see only includes people who are still actively seeking a game (so they don't send unnecessary messages to people who have already found a place to play). The player who was seeking a game, but is now sitting is also better off - he does not have to bother with answering any more invitations that he doesn't want. If, after accepting an invitation to play, a player who had been seeking a game decides he is not happy with his table, he can always leave his seat. He will then appear on the seeking a game list again and wait for an invitation from another table. It is possible and the more people who ask for the this, the better the chances I will implement it (though it may not happen right away as I am concentrating on bug fixes now). The other poster suggested separate settings for number of lobby columns in each area of BBO. Might be better to have only 2 settings - 1 for the lobby (the name I am still using for what you see just after you log in) and 1 for everywhere(*) else. * So I am not accused of lying again, "everywhere" is meant to refer only to places in which a mini-lobby-list is displayed. sfbp
Looks great! I would like the option to show "players seeking a game" regardless of whether they are friends, enemies, worldclass, hosts etc. This might have some very positive social effects. Not "only seeking a game". Stephen
1eyedjack
Substantial improvement. Just one prediction from 1eyed "nostrodamus" jack: When this version goes live, nearly all the players who choose between the friendly, main and masters rooms will either choose between friendly or masters, and in the middle room we shall hear the howling of the wind, with bales of tumbleweed blowing down the deserted street. Ah well, we shall see in the fullness of time. I think that if I had designed that aspect I would have stuck to just the one room, given the table host the option to defining the table as "friendly", "expert" or "in between" (default in between to start with, but default could be changed in user settings), and then allowed players to filter out (or in) tables of particular category. All in all a job well done and much appreciated, Fred and team. One tiny request. Think I may have said it before. If you decide to filter out full tables, can we have the sorting of the remaining tables with the fewest vacant seats at the top?
