Playing Acol my partner and I got to 7NT but can u, only 2 out of 13 tables had bid 7NT at our local club.

The 1st decision is whether you open 1C or 1NT in SAYC ( for Acol players do u rebid 3C or 1NT... as an easy 1C opener in Acol).

take it from there...

If its too easy if the clubs break 4-0 what is the only hope?

The count is nowhere near recitified.

I think the Spade finesse is needed.

That brings you up to 11 tricks.

If Spades split 3-3 you are home.

If they split 4-2 or worse you need the heart finesse to recify the count so you can hopefully squeeze whoever (hopefully) has 4 long Spades and Clubs.

Test clubs by cashing Ace. 4-0 split discovered.

Spade finesse - see result of spade split

Heart finesse - (cash A)

3 Dimes - discard club

At this point whoever holds spades and clubs is squeezed.

3 dimes, 3 hearts, 3 spades, 1 club played

N has S: x

C: K x

S has

C: Q x x

Hi,

my first aim would be to reach 7C, on power

you are only booked for a small slam, so if all

in your local club would reach 7NT, I would be

scared to play there, ... although I would certainly

learn a lot.

Playing a simple SAYC like system, which is hopefully

suited for this section, the auction may go:

1C - 1S

2C (1) - 2D (2)

3NT (3) - 4C (4)

4H (5) - 4NT(6)

5D (6) - 5H (7)

5S (8) - 7C (9)

(1) to weak to bid 3C

(2) NMF, a 5-3 fit in spade

is still an option, intending to make

a forcing club raise in the next round

(3) awkward, bids on the 2 level are

out, since they can be passed,

which is also true for 3C

3D shows a four card suit, so I opt for

3NT, stopping diamond hopefully with

the fible power of my mind

(4) natural and forcing

(5) cue, showing the King of hearts

(6) RKCB, one key card

(7) ask for the trump queen

(8) queen + king of spade

(9) 11 top tricks, and 13 tricks should come

in, since spades can be ruffed, 3NT

denied a 3 card spade suit

and the heart doubleton is also a chance

for an additional trick

With kind regards

Marlowe

There is no NMF in the auction 1-1-2; NMF only applies when opener rebids NT. So in your suggested auction, 2 is ostensibly natural and a one-round force, so South shouldn't be concerned that his Qx isn't a stopper. Other than that, I like your auction.

Hi,

regarding the seq.

1C-1S

2C-2D (?)

it is a matter of agreement, if you play

2D as natural (NMF, third suit forcing,

what ever ...) or as artificial.

Using 2D as an artificial relay is quite normal,

but the use may belong in the adv. section.

With kind regards

Marlowe
