willow23
I think that a chat to friends button would be lovely for the software...so the same way you can send a message to everyone in the lobby..one should be able to send one message to everyone marked as a friend. It yould be even better if one can select friends from a drop down list as well...this would sure beat the copy and paste option. I gues some consideration must be given to friends in tournaments..i.e They should not be distrbed and be excluded from those multiple messages. If there is a way to do that ...pls inform me..:( Good luck guys...BBO always amazes me with their improvements...I think this would be a great addition. Thx

Thx From my perspective, the best way to accomplish this end is to allow users to create chat "channels" devoted to different topics and then allow individuals to subscribe or quit as they see fit. Personally, I don't like the idea of allowing people to spam their friends list. They would quickly degenerate into an advertising system for tournaments, male enlargement, and lord knows what else. And opt in/opt out system would be much more flexible.
uday
Yes, until we have an ans to the spam prob we can't allow group chat
Dwingo
This has been suggested here before. As long you don't have control, as who marks you as friend, this is potential for spam.

I say this only because you might want to post a link to the discussion that was had before. I agree with you that a better chat option would be great, not that it in any way suggests I am unsatisfied with the current software. WoW is certainly an example of the type of system that I envision. From my perspective, the "real" example that WoW provides is integrating fuctionality from outside the system. The World of Warcraft developers didn't start out from ground zero and build a brave new chat system. Rather, they noted that there are some very good chat systems out on the Internet and integrated one of them into their game. If you look at the command set and the functionality included in the WoW chat system, its very close to Internet Realy Chat. I don't know if the WoW developer's leveraged an Open Source version of IRC. Alternatively, they might have just cloaned the program and preserved the command set. Either way, they were able to effectively leverage a lot of experience in designing chat systems and ended up with much better functionality than if they had started at ground zero. Tola18
when I clicked Yes I was thinking on double chat-possibility, not on some fancy mass-distributions-system. Nice but probably overkill. Say I want to chat with a friend outside, I did just almost wrote a lenghty mess, and my opp lefty ask something. I must answer immediately, so I must take away this almost ready message...Such situations are frequently. It would be nice to have two chat - windows. Al_U_Card
Might be nice when setting up a team game with people you like but why would I want to play with...FIENDS...? :o (Unless of course I was fiendish.... :)
dosxtres
Set up a team with people you know is a headache. You must go from list to see who looks busy or not and ask, and wait for answere and moving on the list. I think the option lobby off is great. When I'm looking for and ad as team games or whatever I put it on. So, this is the same. Massive chat (as the lobby but much more restricted) could be On & Off. It can be a profile option if you want sound for this kind of messages too. So, you are "disturbed" only when you want to be. Another thing is marking a guy as enemy or any new feature to have this special channel on but from that people you chose.
