Should I lead from my strongest suit, hearts, or my 4 card longest suit, clubs? We know declarer does not have hearts but they may have clubs so I will lead a heart. If he might prefer a minor suit game over 3N opposite the 4-card spade hand, I suppose he could have started with 2N to find out about the minor? His hesitation only makes sense if he was surprised about 3N, maybe he thought partner must have hearts. This makes a heart lead very tempting. mikeh Posted October 5, 2006 Report Share Posted October 5, 2006 This thread reminds me of those bridge stories where the hero dreams of being in hell and repeatedly getting the same hand... and every time he chooses a logical action, it is wrong. On the companion hand, I chose the ♥A, catering to a stiff honour in declarer. I don't think that that possibility is as clear, but declarer could, I suppose, have a 4=1=5=3 with, say, KJxx K AJxxx Kxx..would that be a penalty double? It would be close for me, but not quite... and if it is, make the ♥K the Q, etc. The main thing is that I think that declarer has a goodish long minor, and that eliminates the ♦ suit, while the hestitation (which may well be meaningless) suggests perhaps concern about the ♥ suit... based on holding 3♠ and length in both minors. Oh well: if my lead, here, of a small ♥, would work on the other hand and the A works here, maybe I will wake up before you post the same hand on lead for the third time :P Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
