Aggregate Scoring again

Playing your 3rd aggregate (total points) KO match of the month, you are in second position at love all.

AKQJ10xx

RHO deals and passes:

P 1C x P

2H ? 6H P

P ?

What do you bid over 2H? (You don't know yet that LHO is likely to bid 6H)

What do you do over 6H?

(p.s. honours count: if you play in clubs you will score +150 for honours)

One vote each way, and no-one else seems to care....

The opponents aren't loonies and in this sort of auction 6H was clearly bid to make. It just seems to be a guess as to whether partner has a trump trick or not, as the ace of diamonds looks certain to be a trick. It's possible that forcing dummy with a club at trick one will make life just slightly too difficult for declarer.

Opponents at our table passed out 6H.

Team-mate bid 7C unilaterally, and hit a very helpful layout:

[hv=n=sjxxh109xxdxxcxxxx&w=saqxxhajxxdkqj108c&e=sk10xxhkqxxxdxxcxx&s=sxxhdaxxxcakqj10xx]399|300|[/hv]

-350 in one room (-500 less 150 for honours) and +980 in the other.

I do care, it's just you have a habit of making your problems too hard :)

I guess I'm starting off with 4 or 5. In theory, the later decision should be a simpler calculation at total points, at least if you ignore the SOTM. At a guess, we will average 4 off in 7, maybe slightly less, so we rate to be -600 or so for bidding on, so we should save if they rate to make slam 65%+ of the time. Given that partner hasn't doubled after I've already given away the position of any trumps that he holds, I think it looks right to bid on.

I do care too, but was away from computer too long...

I had bid 1/3 and pass. They had make 6 Haert, after any lead, but maybe my pd, knowing that I have solid clubs and a trick outside will sac in 7 club? After all, with Ax,void, Axxx,AKQJxxx I may had opened different?
