Lobby

The same "problem" applies to vugraph broadcasts. Everyone is a spectator there, also the operators and commentators. Hence, we get lots of private chat messages that could and should be avoided because we commentate.

In other words: would it be possible, when a user is "ungagged" for commentary, to let others know that the person in question is commentating, not spectating?

"jtr is commentating ....." (rather than watching).

No promises, but I think it is likely we will add a feature (hopefully in the next official version) whereby a player can register as "looking for a game" and then other players can filter the lobby list to include only such players (or only such players who are of a given skill level and/or from a given country...).

In my view this is a better solution than the one that was proposed in this post.

As for Roland's suggestion, agree that would be nice, but the software does not "know" who the commentators are. Having the server provide this information to each person logged in could be done. This would also make it easier for people to select a vugraph table to watch based partially on who was commentating.

But this will have to wait for another time. Sorry but we really have our hands full already with the features we are planning for the next version.

As I said in a recent posts, suggestions are always appreciated, but don't expect to see even very good one implemented soon (unless the work involved is trivial).

I think its getting out of hand. I think we supply far too much data as it is; my goal is to reduce it as time passes

Lobby:

Rather than show thousands of names with state (playing? loitering?) better to give you a screen to invite people to a game with a checkbox to 'include loitering friends' or some such.

Commentators:

Commentators that don't want chat can remove the +++ from their profile.

TDs:

Not clear anyone would would care whether someone is a TD ( of another

tourney?)

True Uday, but as we both know, yellows can't avoid private chat messages no matter how hard they try (+++ or not), so users like sybarra, fred, reisig, raija, mrdct, nickf and Walddk2 get lots of private chat messages from the lobby during broadcasts.

Yes, Walddk2 could be invisible just like his other yellow accounts are (1, 3, 4, 5) when a broadcast is in progress, but I don't think that's desirable. I'm happy to receive private chat in the vugraph room - questions and suggestions related to the actual broadcast.

Believe me, I get lots more than anyone else as it is. It adds to the pressure if I am to respond to all kinds of non vugraph related questions too. I don't know, maybe I should have a special green background colour. I am not kidding; fred and I actually did discuss the issue long time ago.

Ignore the private chat messages? Sure, that's a possibility, but it seems a little rude, and even if I did ignore them, some users keep messaging me and can't understand why I don't reply.
