Walddk
Opener's pass is not forcing, so I will pass. With this said, I would not have doubled 2NT. Nothing suggests that this hand belongs to us. Finally, I have never heard that 2NT over 1♦ shows the majors (assuming that SA stands for Sans Atout = notrump). I wouldn't want to double 3♥ for penalty or compete over it, so I would pass 2NT.
P_Marlowe
Hi, unless your partnership agreement is different,a double of 2NT creates a forcing pass seq. Since you are not strong enough and since youhave no clear idea, what to do over 3H fromthe oppoents, pass and hope they will stop in spades. Not likely, but sometimes strange things happen. If I did double 2NT, I have to double 3C. With kind regardsMarlowe
Flame
Pd pass should be forcing. this is why i should have originally passed and not double. After i double and the bid is back to me, im suppose to double with good clubs (this is penalty) bid a major to show a stoper and lack of stoper for the other major. 3D is probebly not forcing so with slam interest id start with a major bid. This mistake of doubling for penalty because you have a long suit (spade here) is a very common mistake. suppose pastner opens 1NT and RHO overcall 2S, you hold a very weak hand with 6 spades, you know 2S wont make but still double is a bad bid, if you double the opponenets will probebly run but the big problem is that partner will doubl;e them now based on your first double. To sum it, penalty double , show general strengh for defence not only for one potential contract.
