1eyedjack
I have no doubt that the mechanism for claiming and conceding will undergo a complete overhaul when we have the next major software rewrite (and I mean MAJOR, obviously). I also realise that screen clutter is to be avoided. With the above said and done, I would still quite like to have a single button to click in order to concede all of the rest of the tricks. At the moment, if I cash 6 tricks in defence against 1NT and realise that declarer has the rest and I wish to concede, I have to click on Claim button, then down arrow 7 times. The vast majority of claims and concessions are either for all of the remaining tricks or for none of them. Claiming all of the remaining tricks is relatively painless, because that is the default already set when you click on the existing claim button. But conceding all of the tricks is sufficiently frequent that I find it a pain under existing methods. In the major rewrite, I would hope to have 3 options: Claim all, Concede all and Custom Claim. The default setting for Custom claim would be for the contract making exactly (or as close to exactly making as possible given the tricks taken prior to claim). Furthermore, where the default setting is inappropriate for a particular custom claim being considered, the user could configure his personal settings as to the way that he finds it most convenient (and least confusing). Options might be to select +1, +2, or 9 tricks, 10 tricks. And presented as a list box so you can click directly onto the option rather than repeated clicking on an arrow. But all that is for another day. For now I would be happy with a Concede All one-click button.
Gerardo
hmm, perhaps just a "Concede" button to change the default would do. so, you would have "More" and "Less" like now, plus "Concede".
barmar
Another possibility would be to copy OKbridge's claim interface. It displays all the possible results as radio buttons, and you can check on the one you intend. It defaults to the result from claiming all the rest; conceding is easy to find because it's the worst result in the list.
