Pd holds: S: KJXXH: KXXXXD: XXC: QX I hold:S: XXH: AXXD: AXXC: AKJTX RHO opened 1D and I overcalled 2C (hopefully no one will disagree here). Pd has a tough choice. Should he bid 2H? (We play that response to 2-level overcall is NF) He finally goes with 2D and I jump to 3N and that is down 1. If 2H is F1, then we may stil find 4H. I admit playing 2H in a 5-2 fit would not be great, but you definitely won't miss game, and you have a good chance to find your best strain. Arend P.S.: I am not sure this is a good hand for transfer advances. Transferring with 2D and then 2S would be forcing to me and feels like an overbid. Playing a NF 2/2, pard should still bid 2♥. The only bad thing that can happen is he passing with singleton heart. Anything else is good. arrows Posted September 18, 2006 Report Share Posted September 18, 2006 I overcall 1NT too, if only I know what my pd's cards are, hehehe Be real, the prominent feature is the ♣ suit, and with Aces and Kings instead of QJs, this is hand is suit-oriented. Nothing is wrong to overcall 2♣. never tried transfer advance seriously, seems to me it is not easy to use. praticially, I play new suit forcing, EXCEPT 2 over 1, it seems solve most of the problems.
