Trumpace
Assume the 1) and 2) below are trump suits. How do you play the below 2 suit combinations for the loss of no tricks? 1) [hv=n=sxxx&w=s&e=s&s=sakjtx]399|300|[/hv] 2) [hv=n=sxxx&w=s&e=s&s=sakjtx]399|300|[/hv] 3) After answering 1 and 2, now consider the following hand. [hv=n=sxxhxxxdakqxcakqx&s=sakjtxxhxxdxxxcxx]133|200|Scoring: IMPContract 5♠. Opponents win the first two heart tricks and lead a third heart. East has shown 4-4 in majors. [/hv] South is in Contract of 5♠. East had shown 4-4 in majors sometime during the bidding. Opps win the first two heart tricks and lead a third heart. Plan the play. jocdelevat
In both cases I will play ace first then small towards kjt.For contract the fact that east shows 4-4 in majors and my hands are balance I have to take a risk of playing twice towards akjt without taking the ace first( If q spade singleton in west hand will be bad luck.) I see no way of of forcing east to ruff one of minors so I can over ruff (Any cobinations of minors in east hand except to have 2 clubs and 3 diamonds(wich I think is same probability as q s in west hand) will not make east to ruff the minor so I can over ruff then play ace and go to board and lead small.) whereagles
Book bids are: (hidden) 1. Top spade and finesse. Wins on 4-1 shapes Q/xxxx or x/Qxxx.2. Finesse 1st round. Wins on 4-1 shapes x/Qxxx, which is 80% of the cases where RHO has 4 cards.
