I might have just taken the money in 5Dxx at the table.

As it is, I am very confused by the double. If it is a void, I'm going off as there's no possible helpful trump holding (J1098 tripleton on my left.....)

I can't see what to do except decide that the double of 5D was at least partly insane.

So ruff the lead, heart to the ace, diamond ruff.

Assuming this all holds up, draw trumps in 3 rounds (discarding a couple of clubs from dummy).

Now cash a top diamond, and if they were 4-3 all along claim.

Assuming they were 5-2 we're down to this position:

-

Q

-

AKx

x

-

109

x

I cash the last trump planning to discard the HQ from dummy making on a double (or simple-played-as-double) if LHO has the HK, or on a simple if someone has both minors.

Fishy double - I suspect it's one of those auto "a-chance-to-say-something"-doubles. Whatever it is, I think diamonds are behaving unfriendly.

I would play RHO for the K. Ruff the opening lead, play AK discarding the A, lead the Q and discard a diamond if it isn't covered. Then we only need 2 -ruffs. Apart from RHO having K, this requires hearts being no worse then 5-3. Maybe too much to expect, but that's how I'd do it at the table.

If 's were 4-3 all along and LHO shows up with the K - great double :)

I don't understand the double at all, but to me it implies that LHO is more likely to have the HK, because if RHO had the DQJ and the HK he is even less likely to have doubled.
