Higher limits for $$ bridge

I just logged in and there are 5 tables of 2 cent money bridge, and 0 of 1 cent, then 3 of each of the others. This suggests to me that perhaps there are 2 types of players, the more casual players and those who are willing to play as high as possible. Those people would probably play for say, 5 cents as well if it were available, and BBO would make more money on rake.

We have to be careful about this. While MB and MBTs are legal, if a person lost a lot of money playing and decided to get their lawyer or credit card company to come after us, it would be an inconvenience for us to have to fight this.

I have no doubt that we would fight and that we would win, but we can reduce the chances of this happening in the first place by trying to make it hard to lose a lot of money on our site.

If there is interest I could see us having MBTs with higher entry fees (and higher prizes) as it is harder to lose a lot of money playing MBTs for higher stakes than those offered now than it would be to lose a lot of playing, say, 5 cent MB.

I am not saying it is out of the question for us to offer higher stake MB games at some point, but so far not that many people have asked for this. Perhaps if we insisted that such people pay us by check (as opposed to credit card) and/or change the conditions of contest that people have to agree to before they play (so that participants agree to never sue us for example) then the exposure that I describe above will cease to be a concern...

But until more people ask for higher stakes games, I doubt we will seriously consider it. Suggest you ask the other MB players to e-mail us if they feel as you do. The more people who contact us about this, the more likely it is that we will do something about it.
