Congratulations Poland!

I am pretty sure you all agree with me when I say that the vugraph presentation from the European Championships was the best ever on BBO. Hardly a single technical error for 2 weeks!

Lots of nice features, flawless operators, dedicated organisers, and not least the results service, designed and maintained by Jan Romanski.

Congratulations to everyone in Poland who made this possible! You were all marvellous and have now set a new standard for how we would like our vugraph broadcasts in the future.

Roland

P.S. We also managed to get commentary in English, French, Italian, Polish (all four in every round), and occasionally Turkish, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian.

Yes indeed - superbly presented Vugraphs and a wonderful results service B)

Surely the Bridgemate device must be used at all future championships and hopefully in ACBL/USBF events also. It might even be used to record the bidding at every table in the (hopefully) not too distant future.

I've always found the wide disparity in "gizmo" adoption rather peculiar.

Last time that I was talking to Paul Marston, he was in the process of installing Bridgemate at all his clubs in Australia, however, I've never seen these devices used in the US. In a similar fashion, dealing machines are in widespread use in some parts of the world however are virtually unknown in others...

I find it surprising that a technologically advanced country like the USA is not adopting the Bridgemate or a similar US invented gizmo. Anyway hopefully there were enough senior WBF people present in Warsaw to get the message and ensure it is is used in Shanghai. I think it's use was written into the Warsaw conditions of play. Then the idea might start filtering across the pond B)

Well this was a great performance, by the polish organasation, the operators, the commentators.

Let's not forget to congratulate and thank Roland for his work. He seems omnipresent at the vugraph tables and i guess there must have been walddk .... walddk9 arround or even walddk10 because of the other vugraph tables.

The result service was amazing, sometimes you could even see the new results while the board was still played on BBO.

:o

Hear! Hear!...Roland said it all...most enjoyable VG presentation I've experienced...and that is saying a lot!

But Roland must take five bows...one for each Walddk, including the one who gets to nap now and then.

Nor should we forget Fred, Sheri and Uday who make this all possible.
