19HCP over 1NT opener

I do remember the last time I had 16 HCP behind a 15-17 1NT opener, but this hand has to be my first :

[hv=d=n&v=b&s=sk42hatxdakjtxxca]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]

19HCP with a strong suit ready to run... :rolleyes:

However our methods here do not include a penalty double (we're playing DONT).

So what's your choice here?

Will double(showing a 1suiter) followed by a jump to 3 show this hand?

Edit : only 6 carded s lol :lol:

Lately I've been passing these hands. I'm happy to defend 1N and I can compete over 2M comfortably.

I'm not convinced its the best action, but its currently my style :lol:

I pass as well, and I *am* convinced it's the best auction. Especially with that 33 in the majors telling me there's a good chance this ends up 1NT.

by the way, a 3371 is wierd :rolleyes:

It would be good to know whether I really hold 14 cards, or, if not, where the extra card is.

If I do hold AKJ10xxx in , I double and then bid 3N....

Sure, this comes with no guarantees, but I am more interested in +600 than I am in +400... and why can't partner have a useful J or two? Or better? We are very unlikely to hold declarer to 1 trick if we pass (assuming it goes all pass... which it may well NOT do)

However, if I hold only 6, I pass: this change dramatically reduces my chances of making game while barely affecting my defensive prospects.
