Kaapo
This board was played on BBO on August 12th:[hv=d=n&v=b&n=sk96hakt83dj872ca&w=sj74h7642d94c8732&e=sqt53hjdqt65cjt94&s=sa82hq95dak3ckq65]399|300|Scoring: IMPI had a bidding accident with my partner and we landed on 6♣: I read partner for 3-5-1-4 and then thought he'd counted his controls wrong, so I signed off in the small slam. A heart was lead, and my partner had the pleasure to play in a 4-1 fit. Of course, it was laydown, with trumps breaking. Interesting, eh? Not really. What makes the deal interesting is the fact that 7NT makes:Say, the ♣J is led. Declarer wins, takes ♥A, ♥Q, then ♦AK and ♣KQ, pitching diamonds. Declarer returns to hand in hearts.[/hv] This is what's left:[hv=d=n&v=b&n=sk96hakt83dj872ca&w=sj74h7642d94c8732&e=sqt53hjdqt65cjt94&s=sa82hq95dak3ckq65]399|300|Scoring: IMPI had a bidding accident with my partner and we landed on 6♣: I read partner for 3-5-1-4 and then thought he'd counted his controls wrong, so I signed off in the small slam. If he discards a spade and a club, the end position (with West yet to play) is:[hv=d=n&v=b&n=sk96hakt83dj872ca&w=sj74h7642d94c8732&e=sqt53hjdqt65cjt94&s=sa82hq95dak3ckq65]399|300|Scoring: IMPI had a bidding accident with my partner and we landed on 6♣: I read partner for 3-5-1-4 and then thought he'd counted his controls wrong, so I signed off in the small slam. But me, I'm a bad partner, I didn't let my partner enjoy this treat.
whereagles
Look at it this way: everybody that has read a book on compound double squeezes would have made 7NT. But who else would have bid and made 6♣!? :)
