kenrexford
A cute problem from this weekend's regional. AJ9x-A-KQJx-Kxxx, IMP's. 1♦-P-1♠-P-? Too strong and too wrong for a Splinter; 4♠ preempts us. 3♣-P-4♣-P? Very interesting now. Out-of-focus major is RKCB for the minor. If partner's clubs are AQxx, I'd prefer that strain. 4♥-P-4♠(1430)-P-? I need the trump Queen. 4NT signs off, so... 5♦-P-6♣-P-? Now, I know that spades is the best trump suit after all... 6♠-P-P(after confused look)-P. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=skqxxhxxxd10xcaxxx&s=saj9xhadkqjxckxxx]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Just about to be expected, although the diamond 10 is much better than leading toward dummy twice. I think one defensive line beats this, but not sure. Both black suits split 3-2.
