Clicking bids ---> UI

Recommended Posts

It's now happened several times. We have a pretty complete FD file, so all of the explanations are in the NE corner of the screen. We alert bids that are conventional as well, even if we rely on FD to provide the actual explanation.

Anyway, opponents STILL click on our bids. Fine we usually explain and say "it means this and also you can see the explanation in the NE corener of your screen." But then they continue to click on bids, sometimes even when you explained them and often when they are natural bids that you do not alert and say "natural" in the FD explanation. Not only is this harassment of sorts, but it is ripe with potential for UI. In particular, when the auction is over, and one opponent is deciding what to lead and one of your bids is clicked on. If it's the opening leader, then perhaps he's seeking clarification. But if it's his partner, then the leader may receive a hint about what to lead. The problem is that even if I type nothing in the box, it says "no information available". So if opps want an explanation after the bidding is over, I think the software should make the opponents ask in private.

I don't want to accuse anyone of being unethical, so I just wish the software would help us out, especially as we took the time to write up an FD file and keep with full disclosure to the opponents.
