badderzboy
From 1st August, We will announce 1NT range, stayman, transfers over 1NT and no alerts over 3NT unless NAMYATS or similar openings... Always felt strange alerting stayman! There are also mild change to doubles alerting. I am looking forward to them but expect them to cause some chaos, what funny experiences have u seen and what level of fun do u expect? I'm also a recently qualified TD so will have to deal with the fallout too! Steve
david_c
Personally I can't wait :D I don't think announcements will be much of a problem. People will get used to them very quickly (since they come up a few times every session). The one thing a TD will probably notice going wrong is over-announcing: you're not supposed to announce Stayman / transfers after a 2NT opening, for example, or things like 1NT:2S (transfer to clubs), but I'm guessing a lot of people will mistakenly try to announce them anyway. But in my opinion the best thing about announcements is that it doesn't really matter if people get them wrong. The changes to alerting will take a bit longer to sort out, I think. I am expecting a lot of people will not remember to alert their penalty doubles.
barmar
Lots of people in the ACBL, where we've been using announcements for several years, still mistakenly announce 1NT:2S.
mycroft
...and Flannery, and 2D waiting over 2C, and 1D negative over 1C, 2D DONT over opponents' NT, and... But *usually* this doesn't cause a problem. Usually.Michael.
