The title of the thread is Drury. I wonder, does that mean 2 is Drury? In any case, I would start with the "game before slam" principle.

If 2 is drury, you would have an agreement of some sort as to which is the weakest bid, and 3 is not it. So I take 3 as a long-suit game try.

If 2 is natural, then 3 is a game force, natural by default, or a splinter in support of if you have that agreement.

Good question, I never thought about this.

If you play this as a splinter after a natural 2 by an unpassed hand, maybe it makes sense to play it as a splinter here as well. On the other hand, if you play short suit trials, 2 would allready show short hearts so there'll be no need for a splinter.Maybe 3 becoes a picture bid then.

After a 2 response which (presumably) shows 3-card support, it makes sense to rebid a natural 2. Then 3 could be whatever trial you play.

By the way, who was Drury??

First name was Doug or Douglas.

Passed away in 1967.

The system being played is an issue here..I assume a natural system

I would take that bid to mean 5-5 in the majors and game going...It is difficult to imagine slam but it may be possible depending on the hand responder holds..

A double fit would be good news  and worth considering.
