pbleighton
Something like 1H-2C-Whatever-5C. In the unlikely event that pd rebids 3C, it is tough to see how to investigate slam (though I'm sure someone will point it out). Hearts wouldn't be seen a a cubid. cade909
"it is tough to see how to investigate slam" I guess thats my true question how does one investigate slam with this hand. The bidding went 1H-2c-2h-4nt-5c pass .I bid 4nt out of desperation it wasn't the correct bid technically but I felt that if I had another ace slam was plausible. Funny enough 5c didnt make losing 2 spades and a diamond. -Eli
pclayton
I'd bid a direct 5♣. I think 2♣ followed by 5 shows a little more in honor strength.
P_Marlowe
Which system do you play? This will clarify the meaningof 1NT,2C and 5C.Since this is in the beginners/intermediatesection, you wont play 5C as Exclusion Key Card Blackwood/Voidwood, but that isalso one possible meaning of the bid. I would bid 1 NT, and clubs after that. How to investigate for slam?If you dont have a bid to show thishand direct / indirect, you cant. You should be more concerned with getting to game. And more to the point: The slam investigation should be doneby your partner. With kind regardsMarlowe
whereagles
I'd bid a direct 5♣. I think 2♣ followed by 5 shows a little more in honor strength. That's a possibility, yes. A straight 5♣ also sends a message: "I have very little interest in whatever your hand might have, especially in hearts." Opener, who's unlimited, can, of course, still raise with fit + aces.
