pbleighton
I have to admit I would have been a chicken as South and signed off in 4H. The hand has enormous potential, but also has only 8 hcp, and I have no way of investigating intelligently. I'm sure this won't win a bidding prize, but it is what I would do. P_Marlowe
Hi, upto 4S the aution was fine, ... I am not sure i would have found the bid, but 4Sis a great bid.I am not that certain about XX, maybe 5C is better, North knows that 4S has to be shortage, i.e. the Ace is not really something South will needs. I also do not like 5D, sry the suit is to rotten,5H is clearly better, over which North may ormay not bid 6H.Most likely he will Pass, since the Ace of spadeis most likely wasted and he is min. for 3H(at least if you ignore the Ac of spade). With kind regardsMarlowe
mike777
Wayne I thought the bidding was just great until 5D, I would have rebid 5clubs which means partner wants you to cuebid 5D if possible, yes? Nice xx with the ace of spades. The key is trusting partner to not cuebid twice, in spades and clubs without good hearts. To be fair this is not easy as many times it seems our partner or we start a cuebid sequence with junky trumps but a good lesson hand here. Assume if they just needed heart keycards they would RKC, yes? BTW why did east only bid 3s a clear Law Violation Constable Wayne!
hotShot
West North East South Pass 1♣ Pass 1♥ 1♠ 4♦* Pass 4♠** Dbl 5♣+ Pass 6♥ Pass Pass Pass *Splinter, GF + mild slam interest, ♥ support 4+cards(since partner showed only 4 yet.)**First round control ♠, you know he's void+serious slam interest, ♣ first round controlNow south sees that there is only 1♦ looser (your single), no ♠ looser (his void),no ♣ looser (your ace opposite his single). Since he has 6♥ and knows about your 10 card fit, he is quite save to bid 6♥.
