mr1303
Hi all World Junior Pairs starts in a few weeks time, and I've been forced against my will to play Benjamin Acol. Anyway, we play that a 2♦ opening shows either 8 play tricks in a suit or 20-22 balanced. However, I have a couple of points to make: 1) What constitutes 8 playing tricks in a form that I should open this as opposed to 2♣ (GF or 23+ balanced), or 1 of a suit? 2) We currently play that a 2♥ response is waiting, and that everything else is natural positives. 2NT and 3NT are undefined at the moment. I don't really feel that this is optimum. What does anyone else suggest? I would rather not hear suggestions that I don't play Benjamin Acol, since a) I know I shouldn't and :P my partner wants to, in exchange for playing some of my stupid gadgets. MickyB
That sounds like Reverse Benji. 2♦:2N as a ♥ positive, perhaps? Open 2♦ when you are too strong to open 1X and rebid 3X.
P_Marlowe
Hi, Usually 2C is weaker than 2D, but playing 2C as the strongerone makes sense, espessially if you agree to bid 2D only with 1-suiter or bal. hands of a certain HCP range, which makes descibing those hands easy, in other words a 2Hwaiting bid will work just fine. With kind regardsMarlowe
jdonn
You are being force to play Benjamin Acol eh? I like my odds better now :P
the saint
System will make SFA difference in the World Junior Pairs. Cardplay and Judgement will so don't complain about the system. There will be plenty of crazy bidding on display so lean the other way yourselves and avoid the madness. Then all you have to do is defend like ba$tards and collect everything that will be hurled at you. Finally, whenever someone opens One Polish Club against you, fold your cards, close your eyes and bid one spade.
