I make a game try with 4 opposite the 2 opening. I can place the contract, because pds hand is well defined.

Opposite a normal 1 opening, I bid whatever I have avaiable to show inviting strength,so mostly 3 . I have such a beautiful hand, that I am way to good for a simple 2 bid.

Game? Maybe, but i can't see how a quantitative sequence starting with 2N gets us to the right spot. Many minimums:AJxxxx, xx, xxx, Ax, create 10 tricks yet many maximums have no play: KQxxx, x, KQxx, Qxx. A few maximums make 6 excellent: AKQxxx, Qxx, xxxx, void but these are few and far between.

I'll start with 3H.

How BAD a nine point hand is allowed? Can it be 9 hcp and 5(332)? Can the nine be made up of scattered queens in the off suit?

If partner opened 1, I would force to game especially at imps, trying first to play in my heart suit, but if partner insist on being difficult and not support me, I will play 4. Not sure what to do over this 2 bid.

Not sure if this hand is worth something playing spades. If dummy is forced, the hearts may become worthless. (I learned that the hard way in a european championship...)

In any case opps rate to have no game on, so something might be said for passing and later competing to 3. Dunno if I could bring myself to do that at table, though.

I'll bid 3H over 2S. I don't like the stipulated condition that it is a game force, but I'll bid 3H anyway. If LHO bids four of a minor over 3H, perhaps partner can support hearts. If he doesn't support, and if RHO raises 4m to 5m, partner can lead a heart (if he has one) and this might well be right. It seems to me that if LHO bids 4m and there are then two passes, I should be allowed to pass even if 3H was a GF. Partner is limited to 12 hcps, right? I don't understand why 3H should be GF, but if it is I will simply violate the agreement. My guess is that the auction will not stop in 4m however.

We were trying the Funtunes system (Fantoni Nunes), where

1 = 13+, 5+

2 = 9-12, 5+ (even weak - no honors)

There was written 2-3 as game force, don't ask me why (we were just having some fun with new system).
