Director not able to speak to the table

inquiry

Recommended Posts

IF a second or third director is entered with a space before teh title mark, that director has an activated table button but apparently can not speak the table. Since this format is wrong, not sure if this is a bug, but the solution is to remove the space.

Interesting. I've been taught to use ~ between usernames. Example:

inquiry~Walddk~fred~uday

Maybe it has changed (I haven't arranged tourneys for a long time), but I do remember that everybody was able to exercise all TD functions, including talk to the table.

that is correct.. waht this person did was not...

inquiry~Walddk~fred~uday

but rather

inquiry ~Walddk ~fred ~uday

Notice the space after inquiry and before the ~. The directors got a green table button activated, but they could not chat to the table (kibitzer talk to the table was turned off).

I think the problem is, that the software leaves the blank at the end of the username, if you make a blank in front of the '~'. So a user with the same id without blank is no recognized as TD everywhere.

At other parts of the code the username is "stripped" and recognised as TD.

If you try to create a user ID with 1 or more trailing spaces, they will be stripped from the ID.

Please don't try this just to make sure I am right. Creating new IDs that are rarely if ever used is not exactly helpful in our continuing battle to maintain good performance as our numbers grow.

It didn't always work this way and there may be some user IDs out there that have trailing spaces.
