mike777
Welcome, Welcome to the forums! Pass, Flat hand, lousy clubs, 3 spades, no NV overcall or takeout x by partner, oh well.
whereagles
Pass as well, following master mathematician Emile Borel's rule that you should only balance without major(s) on good hands.
HeartA
Pass.
mikegill
Certainly it seems that at IMPs this is an easy pass, since you're certainly not worried about missing a game, and they could have one. Also, vul at MPs, the risk is too high and -200 looks like it would be a disaster. All white MPs is certainly the only time anybody would consider bidding on this trash. Also does the quality of opponents matter to anybody? Against bad players you might be able to get away with -50 instead of -100 on bad defense. pclayton
Pass. I probably balance too much on these kind of hands, so it really isn't close. I have a 5332 (which sucks) and a questionable QS. I pay off big if pard made a trap pass of 1S with a huge hand and 5 spades, but otherwise I think a pass gains.
pigpenz
yes no reason to balance cant outbids spades unless you want to bid 3♣

Hi, of course you may go down only -1 in 1NT,getting away with -50, but this assumes, partner will passIf your partner takes you serious (i.e. gives you 11-14), he may raise 1NT to 2 or 3 NT,... and your -50 will turn into -150.Besides, if you are playing against bad players, you will most likely get a good score anyway. With kind regardsMarlowe
Cascade
and a questionable QS. This is the biggest clue to passing IMO.
Finch
White at matchpoints against questionable opposition I might well bid 1NT. I think it's very close indeed and not at all obvious to pass. As a passed hand 1NT would be clear; sadly I'm not a passed hand.
