the saint
Are the tabloid writers running out of adjectives yet? SeanWorse as they've stopped covering it and Platini, being French and trying to reduce the number of teams in the Champions League, is a much easier target for the next week. Then the Six Nations starts and I'll need to decide whether I'm English or Scottish for the tournament. Decision next Saturday at 6pm! I'll start discussing cricket again when we have a team. p Oi, Gipson, NOOOOOO!!!! Make your call now like a proper supporter! To think you would even start to consider yourself a Sweaty is sending chills up my spine. Anyway, now Jonny is back, we will be kicking their backsides - at least until he is injured again. I give it 23 minutes.
jikl
Wow! England are batting well, 1/74 off 14.2 overs. Sean
nickf
well done, it's taken about 500 days but you have beaten us. nickfsydney
Finch
Oh dear. I was actually hoping England didn't get to the final of this stupid tournament. They need a rest more than they need 2 more hammerings.

the saint
It now seems time for a delusional one-victory-does-make-a-summer post. After all, given the sh1te I've had to put up with over the last couple of months, it seems foolish not to completely over-indulge the moment and play it up for far more than it is actually worth. Here goes then: COME ON THE MIGHTY ENG-ER-LAND!!! World Cup Glory is surely only just around the corner. Who can stop us now? Certainly not the convicts!! And we still have the mighty KP to come back in and newfound King Of The Swingers Jimmy A too! ITs all over, none of you should even bother turning up. Nurse... jikl
Australia helped out England by beating NZ, now if England beat NZ, they are actually in the finals :P Sean

the saint
Australia helped out England by beating NZ, now if England beat NZ, they are actually in the finals :P Sean Even if NZ had won, England could still have qualified with a bonus-point victory. As it is now, just a straghtforward (no, that word shouldn't exist when discussing England) one will suffice.
jikl
OMG, you are talking about a bonus point for England? :P Sean

jikl
Oh well, only two more humiliations left for the Englsih summer, perhaps it was a ploy all along for further humiliation. *runs and hides* Sean
Finch
Today was a bit of a surprise. I had a bet with my husband that only two of the finals games would be required. I suppose I can still win!

nickf
Apparently in order to maximise advertising revenues, Jamie Packer issued a directive to the ACB that the Australians had to dump game 1. It's a disgrace the influence media moguls have upon our fine game. nickfsydney
the saint
So that was McGath's excuse for dropping Bell?
Walddk
So that was McGath's excuse for dropping Bell? Birthday, old, sun got in his eyes, over the hill, and a white Bell ... sorry, ball :o 170-1, 15-3. Complacency was punished. The Aussies deserved what they got. Overall they are much better than England, but the Poms are not girl scouts from Whoollaboolla. Roland
mr1303
Humph. England start playing some vaguely decent cricket as soon as I cancel my sky sports subscription. Not fair. Still, well played England for actually winning a trophy this winter. My records suggest that out of the two going this winter, it seems to be 1-1. Therefore a drawn season down under doesn't seem to be that bad a result(!)
nickf
yes, yes. well done to the Poms. I take back some of what I said this summer. at least some of them showed some balls in the past month or so. nickfsydney
jikl
Congratulations, especially to Collingwood. It was a pity the match was marred by rain. Sean
the saint
Thanks boys. From now on, Frances may never go and see another match and Mark may never take out a subscription to Sky Sports - ever!!
Finch
Thanks boys. From now on, Frances may never go and see another match and Mark may never take out a subscription to Sky Sports - ever!! Indeed. Highlights only of those two - too busy playing bridge/sleeping to watch them (although there was a Sunday morning vote from my husband to watch teletext for a while)
Walddk
... too busy ... sleeping to watch them Not a valid excuse. What a luxury! You can sleep when you get old. Meanwhile, enjoy life, and is there anything more enjoyable than cricket? Cricket is life, the rest (sleep included) is mere details!
