plaur
pass - 1♦ - 1NT - pass2♣ - X 1NT is 15-17ish, 2♣ stayman. What does the X from opener show?
kfgauss
1N P 2C X would be almost purely for the lead (usually a good 5-card suit or better, but could be flat and not particularly desire partner to bid 3C). Here, as we've opened 1D, I think it should show a decent club suit and be sort of for the lead, sort of suggesting that partner compete and that thus we should have mild extras in terms of playing strength (ie either decent shape or a few extra points). mr1303
Minor 2 suiter, not good enough for 3C I reckon.
Badmonster
I would think lead directing.

I wanted to show my clubsuit. Thinking that if we just let them bid and play they were favorites to make a good score.Partner took my x as general takeout, a hand that want to compete. I passed 2♠ hoping that 100 out would be ok. I would have been but 150 was a disaster.http://www.bridge.dk/4278/Klub1/Turneringe...s_S227_CG1.html , hand 17. Comments? Al_U_Card
Had I been your pard, I would have bid 3C over top of 2H. Since I didn't double 1NT, I have less than 8 good points, I want to show that I have a competitive hand and 4 club cards. You showed good clubs and lead direction. I love my AQx of H. Bidding is all about trusting pard. (and having good agreements or at least using more or less standard treatments if undiscussed.)
