Echognome
You have a bit of a bidding mixup with partner and end up in 4♠ rather than 3NT or the much safer 5♣. [hv=d=s&v=n&n=sh93dq96432cqj965&s=sakqj8hk64dktcak3]133|200|Scoring: IMP[/hv] The ♦8 is lead to East's A, who returns the J to your K and West's 5. You play off 4 rounds of spades and East shows out on the 4th spade. What now?
Gerardo
Looks like giving up the last ♠ at once protects your ♥K, so you lose ♦A, a trump and ♥A at most.

sceptic
exit spade and then you can only lose ace of hearts west on lead you have 4 club tricks and diamonds will run so you only have a hearts to worry about with west on lead, should be no problem
Ant590
Sadly I only saw the line you're all picking up when I had the complete deal. I played 4 rounds of spades, got the bad news and decided to hope the long spade hand had three clubs also, so I could get to dummy to throw a diamond. Needless to say he was 5422.Bah! Trumpace
As a defensive problem, can we think of a reason for East to shift to heart at trick 2 (after seeing the hands and the bidding, of course)?
