post convention card

Recommended Posts

I believe I can figure out how to fill out and save a convention card on BBO. Can someone explain to me how I would "post" the convention card when I play in one of the ACBL tournaments? I would really like to start playing in these. Thanks.

The simplest way is to register for the acbl tourney (or any pairs tourney).

Then, while you are still "inside" the pending tourney,

Click the green CONV buttonon on the bottom of the BBO screen

Click SHOW OLD STLE CONVENTION CARD WINDOW

click OPEN

select your convention card

click USE

Your Convention Card will now "follow" you around in this tourney, even if you log off and login again from a different PC.

The procedure is similar if using the newer "Full Disclosure" style card. Enter tourney, click CONV, select a FD card, click USE

After the procedure, when the tourney is still pending, does one see his used CC when clicking conv - ours?

How about the registered partner, does he/she see the same when clicking conv - ours?

Partner sees the posted card by clicking "ours", oppos see our cards by clicking "theirs". Only one player of each pair has to post the card, it is then distributed to the other three players automatically. This also applies to the new style cards if I'm not mistaken (therefore this may take some time for larger FD files).

Sorry if I didnt make myself clear. I mean 'when the tourney is still pending', not started yet.

From prev posts it sounds that one could post the cc before the tourney starts, and could see it by clicking conv-ours.

Just would like to know it is also the same for the registered partner. Would he be able also to see the same card by clicking conv-ours, when the tourney is still pending.

It would be useful as many would play as pickup, if they could see the CC before the tourney starts. :D ;)

I also am having a problem with the use of a convention card with a partner that you have just met as the tournament starts. Yesterday I played in my first tournament. Right away I had to start bidding, the director said I had to post a convention card, and I had no idea what conventions my partner wanted to play. Is there a way I can say just use partner's CC?

Last night I played in my first tournament on BBO. 12 boards, 7 to 830 PM. Not many teams, but we did come in first place! Won .21 master points. 1300 more tournaments like that and I will no longer be a 299er.

I never did figure out how to post my convention card. By default it went to SAYC, although partner said she wanted to play 2/1 and I said OK. Anyway 2/1 never came up anytime.

I can see the need to have a regular partner that you can have bidding agreements with before you play.

All in all, playing on the computer can be an interesting experience.

Well, I played again tonight and did not do well :P . I asked my partner to post CC for both of us but he did not know how. Neither did I. Still confused. Also, it would be nice to work things out BEFORE the tournament begins.

Still confused about posting an agreed CC. How can we play showing different cards?
