kfgauss
Playing imps at favorable, you pick up: x xx K1098 A8xxxx. LHO deals and the bidding is 1S P 2N ?, where 2N = 12-15 bal. Do you bid 3C? I passed, and the auction continued: 1S P 2N P; 3H P 3S P; 3N P 4D ? Do you double?
mike777
I admit I would have bid 3nt over 2nt by rho.
han
I thought there would be a unanimous vote for pass over 2NT, but I see that it is already 1-0 against me. I would also pass 4D.

inquiry
Here is an important word to add to your vocabulary.... PASS Having added it, use it twice on this hand. If you considered bidding on this hand at imps, print out a lot of copies of this word and keep them handy. You will need to learn to use it more than you obviously do. awm
I'd pass 2NT; more likely to go for a number than accomplish much with 3♣ I suspect. However, I like a double of 4♦. It seems like opponents don't have much of a diamond fit -- LHO has bid both the majors and RHO has promised a balanced hand. However, it seems possible that opponents are headed to slam in either hearts or notrump. If hearts, then a diamond lead could be key to setting the contract. kfgauss
Ok, perhaps I shouldn't have included the 1st half of this problem, as it is a bit silly. I was considering bidding 3C over jacoby 2N when I asked and was told it was nat. Would people bid 3C over jacoby 2N? Andy
