Echognome
[hv=d=s&v=n&s=sj9xxhqxxdqxxckxx]133|100|Scoring: IMPP - (1♥) - 2♦ - (P)P - (X) - 2♥ - (3♣)?[/hv] Ok. I know many of you will disagree with the second pass by south. But it's done now and you have to figure out what to do here. What has partner got? What is your bid? Opponent's system is 4 card majors, strong NT, naturalish system.
whereagles
Giving credit to opps bidding, pard should have something like 3-3-6-1 or 3-3-5-2 and 15-17 points. Probably the 3352 (no stopper) since he didn't want to commit to 3♦ 2nd round. Now I bid 3♦ or 3NT depending on the state of match. At neutral state I think I settle for 3♦ due to excessive quacks. Pass might be the winner, though.
jdonn
I am quite sure partner's bid should be natural playing against 4 card majors. On essentially any other very good hand, he could easily redouble. I bid 3♦ now, though I'd feel like I should find something stronger to do if the 3♣ bid didn't come in on my right. Passing on the second round was not totally unreasonable.
sfbp
I sincerely hope he has (but I don't know your partnership style of course) ♠Qx ♥KJxx ♦AKxxxx ♣A I bid 3NT Stephen
inquiry
There is an aweful lot of bidding with me holding 8 hcp. Partner does not have 4♠ and stong hand, he simply bids 2♠ here. Partner does not have semi-balanced monster, he simply redoubles Partner does have ♦ and clubs, he would have bid 3♣ and RHO would not have bid 3♣ So that leaves one suiter with a ♥ stopper looking for 3NT, but we have ♦Q he can't have known about, or red two suiter with long, strong ♦. I think it rates to be the later. How about hcp. LHO has 11 to 13 at minimum, the reopening probably raises that closer to 13, but maybe not. I have 8, so that leaves 19 between partenr and RHO. How weak can RHO be? LHO is short in ♦ and has ♠, and presumably some clubs. RHO could be very weak but with six or seven clubs (maybe even 0 hcp). I tend to agree with those suggesting 3NT is the bid here. 3♦ is just too much of an undbid. But 4♥ may also be our correct spot... dang those 4 card major openings. I will not bid 3♦, I would like to go with 3♥ to show this hand, but this auction is so rare, I seriously doubt partner will understand the bid. And 3♠ can not help, besides, if we play 3NT, it very likely has to be played from myside to protect the cllub king. So I will bid 3NT. luis
Pd has a hand where we can make 3NT so I'm bidding 3NT. I will answer what pd should have exactly after taking a look at dummy :-)Lucky when you don't know what pd has but you do know what to bid :-) Luis
